Black & Ethnic Minority Overseas Trained Teachers into TeachingResearch has shown that there are hundreds of black & ethnic minority overseas trained teachers in the UK who want to return to teaching but face significant barriers in accessing information about training, benchmarking of qualifications from their country of origin and gaining employment in schools.Therefore The West London Partnership (GTP/OTTP) made a successful bid to Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) to fund a project for black & ethnic minority overseas trained teachers. This project is aimed at supporting overseas trained teachers from ethnic minority background who are interested in returning to teaching via employment based training (Graduate Training Programme or Overseas Teacher Training Programme) and wish to gain qualified teacher status (QTS) to teach in primary or secondary schools.
